Daily Crime Report is a free service to our subscribers. But we have expenses, most of which are used to maintain our site, prepare and ship promotional materials to neighborhood associations, manage the database and deliver the email blasts each morning.

We depend on advertising (email banners) and optional subscription fees to cover these expenses.

We ask you to consider paying a one-time optional subscription fee of $15.

Our best guess at what all those abbreviations mean (we think)

We don't have a complete list of police abbreviations, and to be honest, some of them seem to be created on the fly.

But here is a list of the most commonly used abbreviatons, and what (we think) they mean.

We know this is not a complete list - if you find a new abbreviation, please email Daily Crime Report and we will do our best to get a translation.

AO	Arresting officer
UUMV	Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle
BMV	Burglary of a motor vehicle
CP or COMP	Complainant (complaining person)
RO	Reporting officer
HPC	Harassing phone calls
FLID	Fled without leaving identification
F/V	Family violence
O/T	Out of town (eg O/T stolen property)
Duty on strike	Failed to follow law (your 'duty') regarding exchanging information after an accident
MIR	Miscellaneous incident report
AGGRAVATED ASSAULT	A felony-class assault
M/C ASSAULT	Assault, Class C Misdemeanor
M/A	Misdemeanor
